At AUTOMATICA fair 2010 Teconsult will present a further new product: With ROSY pocket we have developed a small, light, and well-priced measurement tool for robot cell measurement. With ROSY pocket e.g. tool, base, and external axes can be determined fast and exactly in order to simplify and shorten start-up.

After two year of research, our development department could explain the phenomenon of single, disappeared and interchanged socks (single socks problem). In a further step appropriate counter measures were identified:

For a customer from tool industry ROSY was adapted to Scara robots. With a newly developed method now the quick four-axis arms can be measured and calibrated inside the cell. At this special palletizing application the errors could be reduced from 1.3 mm to 0.2 mm.

The opening ceremony for the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center HIT was held in early November and on November 15th the treatment of the first patient was commenced. Dr. Lukas Beyer from Teconsult Precision Robotics was significantly involved in the development of robot accuracy. We are glad to have played an active role in such visionary project.

ROSY light is a small and simple tool which helps you to measure your IR quickly with its working tool mounted. Using the robot as a measurement system enables ROSY to take the robot errors into account while calculating the coordinates, thus enhancing the implementation of off-line generated programs. Additionally ROSY light can be used for tool measurement and check of your TCP data after crash or after manufacturing a new tool.

In spite of the economic crisis, at Hanover Fair 2009 there were many enquiries coming from all branches. In medical applications, in car body manufacturing or with off-line programming the demand to increase robot accuracy and process security with ROSY is increasing steadily. Many visitors took advantage of the opportunity to discuss their specific requirements personally and to convince themselves of the variable application possibilities of ROSY.

ROSY RefTool is a small and easy to handle reference tool for tool measurement and control of your TCP data after crash or after construction of a new tool. With the exact known and measured TCP of the ROSY Ref-Tool you just have to move towards a reference point and you have correct tool data in a couple of minutes.

At AUTOMATICA 2008 the presentation of ROSY in version 3.0 was a great success. In comparison with the fair in 2006, the number of qualified visitors did even increase! Many robot users and system integrators took the chance to discuss possible problems regarding the reachable accuracy of pose as well as exchangability and implementing robot cells at their customers, and informed themselves about the multifunctionality of ROSY.

Denso Robotics, part of the DENSO group, decided to co-operate with Teconsult Precision Robotics after intensive tests, in order to increase and assure the yet high accuracy of pose of their robots. Thus Denso is the first robot manufacturer in Europe with a portable, flexible and highly accurate calibration system which avoids long down-time regarding exchange and service and improves process security for their customers.

The presentation of ROSY in version 3.0 at NORTEC fair 2008 was a complete success.   The fair newspaper published an article on page 2, and many robot users took advantage of the opportunity to see and discuss the possibilities and application areas of ROSY and industrial image processing.

The medical robots for particle therapy calibrated very accurately with Teconsult`s help  (s.b.) have been handed over to the customer and are runnig tests in HIT (Heidelberg Ion Therapy). The new method for tumor treatment has been presented in the media in many cases (Bild, BamS, ARD-Christiansen).

At Mitsubishi Elecric in Nagoya, Japan, some robot calibrations were executed using different loads. Results up to 0.1 mm could be achieved, starting from 0.7 mm, which means over 80% improvement.

Within a co-operation with Siemens different technologies for accuracy improvement could be implemented in a new method for cancer treatment with ion beams. The patient and an x-ray device are positioned with robots during this therapy (simulation with EasyRob).

The PhD thesis "Accuracy Improvement of Industrial Robots" ("Genauigkeitssteigerung von Industrierobotern"), which describes development and application of ROSY, was awarded the science prize of "Stiftung Industrieforschung" in Cologne, Germany.

For the first time Teconsult was present with an own booth at MOTEK in Sinsheim. The live presentation of measurement and calibration heavily quickened the interest of the fair visitors. The requested applications stretched from palletizing over machine feeding up to measurement tasks for industrial robots. We thank Adept and EasyRob for their help with designing our fair presence!

With ROSY several Staubli robots which are used for water jet cutting could be calibrated absolutely accurate. Their positioning error was reduced from about 2 mm towards 0.1 mm, which means an improvement of working accuracy of over 90%.

At Hannover Fair 2005 a measurement of a calibrated Adept Six 300 was demonstrated. So the visitors could assure theirselves of an accuracy of pose around 0.2 mm.

Together with Valk Welding, NL, some Panasonic robots for welding applications were measured. During the tests very good accuracy values of about 0.2 mm could be achieved.

Robots for various applications have been measured and calibrated with ROSY during the last months: e.g. assembly of mobile phones, bending of extractor hoods, drilling and riveting of aeroplane parts or milling of automotive components.

During Automatica 2004 in Munich robot calibration was demonstrated using an Adept Six 300 robot. Thanks a lot to Adept for their support and to the numerous visitors for their interest!

The new version of the ROSY mesurement tool now carries an additional LED line which improves illumination when measuring the position of a workpiece or fixture.

Recently, a twin system of co-operating Motoman robots was calibrated with ROSY. For the complete system an accuracy of about 1 mm could be obtained. When moving the robots "hand in hand", with the naked eye no significant deviations have been visible any more.

Meanwhile some calibrations of ABB robots have been performed by means of a new Rapid post-processor where in some cases accuracy improvements over 90% could be achieved.

At Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg a market study about robot calibration has been developed where ROSY performed significantly better than competing systems. The analysis can be requested by e-mail.

The new ROSY measurement tool is finally ready. It allows position measurements with a resolution of 2 micrometers.

The project "Tricept calibration", which has been realised in co-operation with a German automotive manufacturer, could be finished successfully. The set goal of 0.1 mm accuracy of pose has been achieved according to plan.

On Hannover Fair 2002 robot calibration with ROSY has been presented with a Tricept SRT60.

Together with EASY-ROB an inexpensive visualisation tool for the Tricept types SRT60 (SEF) and TR600 (Comau) has been implemented.

The ROSY functionality was increased by the possibility to calibrate Tricept robots. This way high accuracy robot tasks around 0.1 mm tolerance shall be made possibly with high dynamics and application of high forces.
