Robot calibration and measurement system ROSY:

The accuracy of pose of industrial robots often is unsatisfactory for special applications. Particularly in connection with off-line programming, exchangeability and high precision robot applicatiuons problems may occur which can be very time-consuming and costly to solve. Therefore the calibration system ROSY (Robot Optimization SYstem) has been developed in order to increase positioning accuracy of industrial robots.

ROSY is a measurements and calibration system for all common industrial robots which helps to adapt off-line generated robot programs to the real production environment. Additionally there exists the possibility to measure industrial robots according to ISO 9283 and thus to determine different characteristic values refering to their pose accuracy.

A robot cell calibration generally takes place regarding three different areas:

- Robot calibration:
Determination of the real kinematic data of the robot and correction of the ideal model

- Tool calibration:
Determination of real tool data (6D)

- Workpiece calibration:
Determination of the real position of workpiece or fixture an appropriate correction of the robot program with different methods.

Calibration of industrial robots is necessary for certain high precision applications and has been implemented by us for e.g. laser welding and robot guided hemming. With these tasks, the recommended tolerances of 0,2 to 0,3 mm absolute pose accuracy could be met safely.

By calibration also the exchangeability of IR can be improved significantly. So e.g. when a crash occurs in an automotive plant, a replacement robot can quickly be installed which can exactly execute the original robot program without costly and time-consuming teaching and adaption.

ROSY light

ROSY light a economical measurement system for cell calibration, i.e. for tool and base measurement. It is e.g. used in car body manufacturing in order to measure the robot base towards coordinate-zero and towards external work stations. With ROSY light a new compact tool is available which allows quick measuring of robots even in cells with limited space.

ROSY pocket

ROSY pocket measures the position of reference spheres very precisely and touchless with cameras. This sensor allows exact positioning of tool tips and workpiece marks in 3D. Furthermore, the system is portable, easy to handle and can be used flexibly due to its small form factor. At last, ROSY pocket is type-independent and therefore suitable for all robot types.
